This semi-detached Victorian is one of the smaller properties in the Cabbagetown-north heritage conservation district, according to agent Julie Kinnear.
But the two-bedroom home was still a "hot little property," especially for first-time buyers and empty-nesters, Ms. Kinnear says. It sparked a bidding war, and finally sold for $146,000 more than the asking price.
"It was a quaint home, but it was all modern and updated inside," Ms. Kinnear says. "It was a prime location just south of Wellesley."
The decorative brickwork and board and batten exterior is enhanced by a perennial garden, which has been nominated for an award given out each year by a local group.
In the past few years, extensive renovations have been carried out, including updating the wiring and air-conditioning systems, installing new hardwood floors on the main floor, and revamping the main bathroom upstairs with wainscoting.
The living and dining rooms were opened up and the kitchen relocated to the rear. The latter has stainless-steel counters and appliances, halogen lights, and French doors leading to a secluded patio and garden.
The master suite is the more lavish of the two bedrooms upstairs, with wall-to-wall closets and broadloom.

"A finished basement in a Victorian is rare," Ms. Kinnear notes.
There is no parking, but a street permit can be obtained.
