…of Things Past is a unique furniture store that carries used furniture as well as new items that other shops consign with them. The store first opened its doors back in 1996 and now operates an enormous 22,000-square-foot showroom with approximately 20 employees.

But this is not an ordinary used furniture store, as the owner describes:

Unlike other consignment shops, merchandise belongs to the consignors. Items only become the property of …Of Things Past after 240 days. That's roughly eight months. Not only that, we don't charge the consignor ANY fees for taking back their items. They could leave their items up until the 240th day and pick them up without penalty. That in itself is something that sets us apart from other stores.

Their extensive selection reflects current trends. Right now it's a lot of smaller furniture and clean lines for condo living. Their items come from various sources such as store owners that are moving out extra stock and interior designers looking to move things that their clients didn't like. This stylish store has items for every type of taste and décor. However, you won't find furniture from big box stores in their merchandise, as that style of furniture just doesn't resonate with …Of Things Past or with customer base. People like quality furniture and luxury items; they just make it affordable. The main feature of their business is that they pick their merchandise very carefully, ensuring that their collection is interesting and exciting at all times. Many of their customers are interior designers and architects.

The main aim of the pricing policy at …Of Things Past is to get the consignors the best price for their furniture, but at the same time they make sure to price it so it will move. With flexible prices, you don't have to watch overpriced pieces linger on the floor for months. However, be careful if you're waiting for the price to drop, as items go quickly at …Of Things Past. The store has a very pleasant atmosphere, which is emphasized by their kind and knowledgeable staff.
