The Green Toronto Awards were launched three years ago and come with a $5,000 prize, donated to an environmental organization of the winner's choice. This year, 178 nominations were reduced to 30 finalists in 10 categories.

One of the 10 winners:

Neighbourhood group Riverdale Initiative for Solar Energy (RISE) in the energy conservation category, after helping a large group of neighbourhood homeowners install solar power systems and buy & install in bulk to reduce costs.
