Oscar winning director Guillermo del Toro has filmed several projects in Toronto. He credits the talent and loyalty of the crew, quality of studios and post production abilities like visual effects & sound mixing here as keys to his success.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow presented him with the key to the City in July 2025 to recognize his contributions to the city’s film industry. Cinespace Studios renamed Stages after him as well.
