7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
Julie reviews what the team is reading!
What a book! I first read this book by Stephen Covey many years ago when I first got into business in 1992. Since then many of the important points have stayed with me. Our team reread and discussed it together.
Who can forget – focus on the Important not the Urgent matters? Stephen Covey’s easy visual of understanding the time management matrix and working from Q2 is a habit that separates the best from the rest. This is especially poignant nowadays with blackberry’s and technology making everyone so accessible, it is easy to get caught up in the “busy”. BE PROACTIVE is habit 1.
So many successful principle centred life forming habits are found in this gem, and are explained very clearly, which apply not just for businesses. This is not a quick fix read. THINK WIN-WIN is Habit 4.
There are nuggets of wisdom throughout – another that sticks out for me, is that the most successful people visualize their desired outcome before even beginning the task.
It helps us remember our important roles that we are responsible for in life. It helped keep me focused on things like prioritizing regular work outs, sticking to a schedule, and being the best wife, partner, sister, daughter, friend, pet parent, and trusted real estate consultant I can be.
Enjoy this fabulous book. There is an 8th Habit book as well you may want to look for as well!
Enjoy!
