Alleycatz Atmosphere

Alleycatz is a trendy hangout, where classy restaurant juxtaposes with a high energy dance floor. Self-proclaimed as a jazz bar, but not really jazzy at all, you can expect all genres to be played during your night at Alleycatz. The crowd is a real delight because as soon as that band hits its first beat, everyone bolts from their seats and dances the night away. Whether you're stopping by, or just quickly taking a peek inside, you'll quickly realize that Alleycatz is a great place to spend your night.

Alleycatz Selection

Located in a trendy area of midtown Toronto (at Yonge and Eglinton), Alleycatz is a great venue for food, drink, and live music. The food was delicious, with a sophisticated Mediterranean menu that could not be classified as your typical bar food. If you go in large groups you are given a prix fixe menu of $25 which had a decent selection and pleases even the pickiest of eaters. This includes an appetizer assortment of salad, bruschetta, calamari and vegetarian spring rolls. For entrees you are given the choice of some of the restaurants most popular picks such as 'orgasmic penne', 'penne alla vodka', 'rigatoni carlito' (grilled chorizo sausage) or wild mushroom risotto. I chose the orgasmic penne and was not disappointed. It was a chicken dish with portobello mushrooms and asparagus, in a pesto cream sauce. Having gone with a party of 20 people, I heard nothing but happy comments about their dishes and the quality of food served. The 'Penne Alla Vodka' was a huge hit, with its smoked bacon and leeks in a vodka tomato sauce. Delicious!

Music

Live Music in Alleycatz

The food in conjunction with great live music made for a fantastic evening. Although the stage itself is not large, it has welcomed artists such as Matt Dusk, and hosts some of Toronto's best local musicians. The atmosphere is what makes this such a fun hub, as you won't be able to resist following the beat when everyone around you is having the time of their lives. Alleycatz is also home to events such as Salsa Mondays (with lessons) or Jazz & Blues nights (Wednesdays, with no cover charge). There seems to be something going on at Alleycatz every night of the week!

Overall, it's a trendy supper club where you can enjoy new, live music. Alleycatz also participates in both Summerlicious and Winterlicious Toronto festivals, so it's always great time to check them out.
