Julie's Scoop

How are you doing? We hope you and your extended friends and families are healthy and safe. Please feel comfortable to reach out if you need any help. Anything at all! (Not just real estate.)

As we are 6 weeks into the Covid-19 State of Emergency it seems that we have settled into this “new normal”, that keeps changing and evolving! Who knows what the future holds. I think the best advice I’ve been given recently is to get comfortable with change. As that is the only thing we know for sure will continue to happen.

How great is it that we have technology to keep us connected and close? Who knew that all the zoom/hangouts/facetime/houseparty options would become so “normal”?

Look familiar? The JKT on our weekly Zoom meeting!
Look familiar? The JKT on our weekly Zoom meeting!

It sounds like every single one of us have had many ups and downs thus far. Our prayers goes out to those families that have lost loved ones. Heartfelt thanks goes out to the heroic efforts of all frontline workers, particularly in health care and everyone who is working and interacting and putting their own health at risk to make sure we are taken care of. Thank goodness we still have groceries, garbage pick up, mail, deliveries, gas, public transit, hardware stores curbside pick up (and of course the LCBO!).

One of the silver linings is Mother Earth has had a pause for the benefit of the environment (and hopefully climate), it has allowed us to witness the possibilities for the future.

That’s sort of it, isn’t it? Just like when a new “impossible” record has been broken, like for example, the sub-4 minute mile by Roger Bannister in 1952, then afterwards so many more were able to conquer it because they knew it was possible. So many new realities and ways of doing things are being created and tested and now happening.

What I find such an interesting and fascinating situation, is that literally the whole world IS in this together. It really is overwhelming if you think about it.

Keep up the physically distancing! Wear your masks and gloves, wash your hands multiple times for many seconds, help those in quarantine, or ill, and please support local businesses. We will be ok. No matter what. No matter how it looks. #Stayhome #Savelives

As realtors our jobs were deemed essential thankfully, which means that we continue to be able to help those who may need to buy or sell right now.

A lot has changed as far as how we go about showing properties, yet much has stayed the same. We are here as your professional advisors to help you make sound decisions and guide you home.

P.S. We are here to support you. Feel free to contact us with any questions or needs. You are in our thoughts.

P.P.S. One of our wonderful clients wrote a short letter to me after we recently reminisced about how she had actually bought 2 homes without seeing them personally!

Dear Julie,

As one of your happy clients and after our discussion, I wanted to share why I am confident that it is possible to buy a house via phone and internet.

Most people won’t think of this method. They want to touch and prod and feel. But this isn't necessary.

I’ve bought two great homes via long distance. One in Victoria, while living in Manitoba in the spring of 2001. And of course, the one in High Park in 2007 while living in Victoria.

You’ll note from the dates, high information via internet didn’t factor into the decisions. It practically didn’t exist.

With all the technology available these days - especially photo and video - neighbourhood info re: schools, shops and so on, buying a home ’sight unseen’ will be an easy decision, especially with you, as the realtor.

Take care

Colleen

The Julie Kinnear Team's GEMs (Genuine Evidence of Merit)

A company's success is strongly impacted by the customer reviews and for those of us in real estate, Google reviews and Facebook reviews create the biggest impact. We are asking for your help to go online and add your input and we will happily donate to a charity of your choice for your efforts!

You can do it on Google Maps here (it's very very important that you write a comment as well in addition to the rating), or you can also leave the same review on JKT's Facebook page here by clicking on "Yes" next to the "Do you recommend the JKT?" It's true, 5* reviews are almost as precious as a referral nowadays!

“Working with Lisa was such a joy. As a first-time homebuyer, I had no idea what I was in for when the search started, but Lisa made me feel comfortable and made sure I had all the knowledge I needed.

Searching for a condo in Toronto is stressful, but she was so encouraging and enthusiastic that it ended up being a lot of fun! Lisa listened closely to what I was looking for and was an incredible advocate through the whole process. She helped me be well-informed and realistic, while also making sure I didn’t settle for anything less than something I loved.

Now I have a new home that I’m really excited about, and it’s thanks to her tireless work on my behalf and all her knowledge and experience that helped me make an offer than couldn’t be turned down. I am so, SO grateful to Lisa and The Julie Kinnear team for making this such a wonderful experience!”
