Not sure if contemporary theatre is your thing? Or simply can't decide which form of drama you prefer? Then the InspiraTO Festival is just what you're looking for. It's essentially speed dating for theatre. In the span of one hour, you will see six 10-minute shows that are entirely unique and unconnected. You might see a satirical farce, followed by a movement-inspired piece and finish the night off with a soul-searching drama. There really is no telling what you'll get!

There are 24 plays in total which are divided into four groupings – the redEye, the blueEye, the yellowEye and the whiteEye. The redEye features shows about passion and desire, the blueEye's shows explore mystery, the yellowEye's shows shake the audience into seeing the worth in new ways and the whiteEye's pieces showcase the theme of "vision". But each of the shows within each grouping stands on its own. For instance, the redEye segment acts as the home of both an emotionally charged cultural drama entitled Broken English and an absurdist comedy entitled Missing. So you can see two entirely different pieces under the same heading.

There may be a piece you love, one you're curious about and another that isn't to your taste at all – that's what's so great about the InspiraTO Festival. You are presented with several theatrical experiences and can decide for yourself what appeals to you most. And as an added bonus, at the end of the show you can vote for your two favorite pieces. The winners will be featured at the finale on Sunday June 10th.

The entire festival is taking place on the main stage at the Alumnae Theatre which is conveniently located at 70 Berkeley Street. The Festival continues this week from June 6th to the 10th. And as an added bonus, the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday shows feature talkbacks afterwards so you can get some of your questions answered first hand. Book tickets online through InspiraTO website or you can try and snag them at the door. Whatever you do – don't miss your chance to check out some of the new and exciting theatre Toronto has to offer!
