JULIE KINNEAR: Keller Williams Realty
Julie started her College Pro career "so young and so dumb" (her words, not ours!) but has worked her way up the ladder to become a successful real estate agent. She firmly believes that College Pro set her up to be miles ahead of her peers, and values the lessons in consistency, trust and communication that she developed as a franchisee and general manager.
Education: Carleton University
Rookie Year: 1988
Current Home: Toronto, ON
What’s up with Julie?
Julie is an expert in Real Estate, operating in neighbourhoods around Toronto. Previously, she was a consultant at Royal LePage. Her honours include being in the top 1% of realtors in Canada, out of 14,000, and was ranked 20th in Canada for 2011… so it’s pretty clear she has a knack for caring for people’s homes. Currently, she runs The Julie Kinnear Team for Keller Williams.
The College Pro Experience
Julie started at College Pro in her second year of university. Her only prior work experience was as a camp counselor, so she was interested in a more lucrative position, in addition to one where she could interact with adults for a change. Julie became one of College Pro’s first interior painting franchisees in Ottawa. She later transitioned into a General Manager position after a few years running a franchise.
Her College Pro Takeaways
Many things that Julie learned in her College Pro days are skills that she uses to this day. Things like accountability for her numbers; measuring how many door knocks will lead to how many customers, hiring employees, keeping people happy… and even figuring out how to get a loan to buy her first car! For her, and many others, College Pro truly is a crash course in business.
The reason I would recommend College Pro to anyone and everyone is because the people I know from my College Pro days still remain my close friends, but more important to note is that they are all successful. I’ve been fascinated to see the quality individuals that come out of College Pro, because it’s a place that surrounds itself with young people full of potential and destined for amazing lives.
Julie and her wife live in High Park, but escape to their cottage in Halliburton as often as they can. She is the proud owner of 2 cats (Scout and Scooter) and 2 dogs (Murphy and Nicky). When she isn’t working she likes to fit in some cycling and watch Le Tour de France, and she dabbles in some snowshoeing and boating too. In Julie’s own words, she has a “damn nice life, and loves to travel, drink fine wine and entertain often.”
Julie volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, raises money for Princess Margaret Hospital AND rides 200km every year to raise money to conquer cancer.
