Onward - How Starbucks Fought for Its Life without Losing Its Soul by Howard Schultz
Review by Julie
This book has really stayed with me. I finished it about a year ago and I still refer to it, recommend it, and am really glad that I took the time to read it.
In fact, in our latest team book it suggests that we read true stories and biographies and the like and this is a good one.
This is the story of how Starbucks turned around the company that was headed in the wrong direction - how Mr. Schultz as CEO led the way to the revitalized the brand, and brought a true passion back into the business.
The thing was that he humbled himself, admitted the reality of the situation and didn't rule from above but got heavily into the trenches to figure out how to recreate a sustainable business and how to win back customers through quality, innovation and giving them "an experience".
Its a definite read not only for business minded people like myself, I think most people would find it stays with them too.
