Read this fascinating article written in the New York Times all about how there are thousands upon thousands of data centers from all the search engines and internet providers WASTING power and energy - each data center using up the amount used by a small city!

These data centers are running full speed 24-7 despite only needing a fraction of that to avoid any disruption in service or break down, and then THEY have back up diesel generators also going full time.  Insanity.
