Mary & I were lucky enough to spend some quality time in the Spain in August - thrilled to be celebrating the JKT’s very own Jen Palacios’ milestone birthday.

Mary & Jen’s father is from Madrid, so it was very special to spend time with family, and get to experience the glorious northern coast, unspoiled beaches, Santander, Cantabrian villages, San Sebastián/Donastia in Basque Country & the Rioja wine region.

Bilboa’s Guggenheim Museum and the Vuelta cycling race were also memorable. Lots of great seafood, Churros, Tortilla de patata and Pintxos (tapas)!

We tacked on another few days to be sure visit the Euro Kinnear’s in Kittsee Austria too!

Jay Banks on our team was happy to join the several thousands of people at the Roncy Polish Festival last weekend. All the shops were open offering their ware and fare. The weather was sunny and perfect for the yearly weekend event. Interestingly in 2022 the BIA tried to change the name and drop the Polish part when it merged with Roncy Rocks but it was quickly re-instated by popular demand. The celebration of food and music is really fun and the largest of its kind in North America.

Courtney & Ruairi are really excited that Tommy is in Grade 4, and they are loving the recent renovations they did on their home.

Today the Bank of Canada lowered it’s prime rate by .25% - the first drop since March. The big banks said they would decrease their prime rate by 25 basis points from 4.95% to 4.70% just hours after Canada’s central bank by a quarter point to 2.5%, which is positive news for those who are looking to renew or finance a new mortgage. See Ruairi’s video message below about market conditions. One key message Ruairi has is to keep an eye on the # of transactions not just sales prices. We are a couple of weeks after Labour Day, so very early days of the Fall market and there have been a number of quick sales and sold properties over asking despite the relatively negative headlines in the media. Traditionally there is a spike of transactions in and around the month of October - so we’ll see how things continue.
